So I've listed some CDs for sale on Amazon. And last week when I listed them, I had the "best price" on 3 out of 4 items. Today I logged in to my seller account there to find... the best price on only one now. Why?
Simply put, people are playing a reverse version of The Price is Right with me.
One CD I had listed for $4.25. So someone lowered his price to $4.24. On another, the price was $3.25. Someone lowered his price to $3.22. And, on a $3.00 item, someone changed theirs to $2.97.
I had no idea this penny subculture existed. I wonder if these people do the same thing in meatspace.
"Well, this car is listed as being $18,995. Would you take $18.994.99?"
"I'm not sure this Happy Meal is worth $3.26. I'll give you $3.22."
"Why, this gallon of gas is $3.55! That's a lot cheaper than the $3.56 up the street!"
